TRIMET expands Harzgerode location
“The expansion of the TRIMET plant is a further positive sign for Saxony-Anhalt as a business location. When companies expand their sites, it is a symbol of confidence in the local conditions. I congratulate the city of Harzgerode on the new jobs,” emphasized Haseloff.
Biggest contract to date for TRIMET Automotive safeguards the future as well as jobs
A total of some 850 employees produce high-quality die-cast components for the automotive, electrical and machine construction industries in Harzgerode. Among other things, TRIMET Automotive supplies engine blocks, transmission components, chassis parts and structural elements for well-known automobile brands. Starting next year, TRIMET Harzgerode will produce up to one million finished aluminium clutch housings annually for a well-known transmission manufacturer. These are integrated into vehicles manufactured by BMW, Daimler and Renault. The project is the largest individual contract to date for the medium-sized company.
“The trust that our customers have placed in our material and high production quality is a confirmation of our position as an innovative system supplier in the industry. In this way, we are safeguarding the future of this industrial location, along with attractive jobs and apprenticeship positions,” said Luigi Mattina, Management Board member of TRIMET Aluminium SE.
Investments reach 50 million euros
The aluminum foundry in Harzgerode is one of two production locations run by TRIMET Automotive. The company will expand the foundry this year, creating space for the subsequent processing of the technically highly sophisticated cast components. On the premises of the training workshop, a new hall measuring approximately 6,500 square meters is being built. Here, Schlote, a strategic partner, will mechanically process the cast component parts.
“The direct site location offers decisive advantages: an optimal exploitation of the logistics and supply chain, as well as the economic use of all resources. We are continually working with all our partners in the supply chain to sustainably install efficient processes. We place the highest value on success through innovative automation concepts,” explained Jürgen Schlote, Executive Director of Schlote. The finished components will be delivered daily by truck to the customer’s various assembly plants in Europe. Both partners are investing a total of some 50 million euros in the expansion of the site.
“We are very pleased about the expansion of the industrial location in Harzgerode and the creation of some 100 new jobs. This important investment is good news for the entire region and clearly shows that the collaboration between TRIMET and the city of Harzgerode is a success,” pointed out Mayor Marcus Weise.
TRIMET’s training workshop will be offered sufficient space and state-of-the-art facilities in the new building. Beyond the existing occupational profiles, young people will also be trained here in further professions. The expansion of TRIMET Automotive’s production location is thus not only creating new jobs, but is also enlarging the overall training offer. Some 40 positions are to be filled by the end of the current year.
The SCHLOTE GRUPPE, founded in 1969 to mechanically process cast parts, is now an internationally sought-after development partner and series supplier in the automotive and supply industry, as well as for foundry technology, and employs a total staff of 1,500 at nine locations. The company has developed into an ever-expanding global specialist for the processing of complex engine, chassis and transmission components.
