Aluminium specialist TRIMET expands die-casting capacities
TRIMET Automotive Sömmerda GmbH & Co. KG produces around six million superior aluminium die-cast products annually. Together with its sister plant in Harzgerode, Saxony-Anhalt, the location predominantly delivers a wide range of components, predominantly to well-known German and international automotive manufacturers and their suppliers. The plant’s production lines are running at full capacity and are currently being expanded with two new die-casting systems. The medium-sized company is investing some 2.5 million euros in these systems and plans to hire additional staff.
Through capacity expansion, TRIMET is meeting the rising demand for aluminium die-castings in the automotive industry. In mid-2018, the plant will launch series production to fulfill another major order from a German premium manufacturer. Over a period of about seven years, some 500,000 sets of mechatronic parts for next-generation automatic transmissions will be delivered annually.
In Sömmerda, TRIMET has a permanent staff of around 215, including 15 apprentices. The main production areas include die-castings for mechatronic parts used in dual-clutch and automatic transmissions, engine carriers, brackets and structural components. In addition to casting, mechanical processing and surface finishing, the service portfolio includes the installation of finished assemblies and the development and design of tools.
The material specialist TRIMET took over the Sömmerda and Harzgerode plants in 2001 and has since expanded them into the successful Automotive Division with investments of more than 220 million euros.
