Minister Duin and Friedrich Ebert Foundation Guests of TRIMET

Jun 14, 2016 | Around 170 representatives from business and politics met at the TRIMET Aluminium SE site in Essen on June 13 to discuss the consequences that changes in energy supply may have for the industrial location.

TRIMET hosted the managerial group of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, a forum for the exchange of opinions between business and politics. Following a speech by the Minister for Economics, Energy, Industry, and Commerce in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), Garrelt Duin, the lively discussion was focused on the core industrial state of NRW. The participants agreed that the energy transformation needs to be shaped in such a way that the competitiveness and strong position of the industrial location is maintained. “Energy policy in Germany must be ecological, safe, and affordable,” said the economics minister. Alongside Garrelt Duin for the podium discussion were Kurt Ehrke, retired former member of the Management Board of TRIMET Aluminium SE, Martin Graf, Managing Director of Energie Steiermark, and Dr. Volker Lang from management consulting firm A.T. Kearney.
