The first wind farm in the port of Hamburg will commence operations at TRIMETGiving the start signal for the wind power plant: Gunnar Liehr, Head of Siemens Wind Power Germany, Senator for the Environment Jens Kerstan, Mayor Olaf Scholz, Dr. Michael Beckereit, Managing Director of Hamburg Energie and TRIMET CEO Dr. Martin Iffert
With an overall height of 199 meters, the turbines are one of the largest wind power systems in Hamburg, producing a total power output of 28 million kilowatt hours per year. This is equivalent to the electricity demand of about 10,000 households.
“For me, Hamburg is the best model region for the energy transition,” said Dr. Martin Iffert, CEO of TRIMET Aluminum SE. “A large city, trade, industry, classic power plants and renewable energies are working hand-in-hand for the economic future of this location. And here in Finkenwerder, we are now showing quite specifically that renewable energy and industry can complement one another, thereby serving as a model.”
