TRIMET Gelsenkirchen delivers its millionth ton of liquid aluminium to Ford

“Producing one million tons of high-quality recycled aluminium in liquid form is a remarkable achievement. At the same time, advancing to become a Q1 partner for one of our key customers is all the more impressive. Our employees in Gelsenkirchen can be proud of these achievements. Our refinery’s aluminium meets the highest quality standards, helping to ensure the fuel efficiency of Ford vehicles with its low weight. As a recycling material, it also contributes to environmental protection,” said TRIMET CEO Thomas Reuther.
Axel Jaedicke, Head of Die Casting at the Ford Motor Company in Cologne, said: “In light of the millionth ton of aluminium, the always cooperative business relationship with TRIMET should be emphasized. Their rapid response and support when it comes to delivery or quality issues fully meets our expectations of a Q1 supplier. We also value TRIMET’s open and competent expert opinion when it comes to casting optimization. We would be delighted to see the second millionth ton of liquid recycled aluminium from TRIMET’s Gelsenkirchen site being used in one of our vehicles.”
The Gelsenkirchen recycling location has been owned by the aluminium specialist TRIMET since 1993 and has been a supplier to Ford Cologne since January 2011. The prerequisite for classification as a Q1 supplier is the fulfillment of the highest quality standards in terms of production, service, consulting, environmental management and other factors. Together with its sister plant in Harzgerode, some 170 employees annually produce about 125,000 tons of recycled aluminium at TRIMET.
