TRIMET plants in France receive ASI certificate

The aluminum smelter in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne and the foundry in Castelsarrasin have completed certification to the Performance Standard of the Aluminum Stewardship Initiative (ASI).

TRIMET Aluminium SE’s two production plants in France have completed certification in accordance with the Performance Standard of the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI). The aluminium smelter in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne and the foundry in Castelsarrasin thus meet the globally applicable requirements for ecologically and socially sustainable production and responsible corporate governance in the aluminium industry.

The certification of the two sites under the umbrella of TRIMET France SAS covered a total of 59 criteria and was carried out by DEKRA Certification.

“The certification of our production plants in France in accordance with the strict ASI requirements confirms our efforts to further develop sustainably produced materials,” says Philipp Schlüter, Chairman of the Executive Board of TRIMET Aluminium SE and President of TRIMET France SAS. “Sustainability is a key factor in determining our ability to compete. As a manufacturer of aluminium with a low carbon footprint, we are enabling climate-friendly products, securing the future of our sites and contributing to global climate protection goals.”

The Aluminium Stewardship Initiative sets internationally recognized industry standards for the responsible production and use of aluminium that meet the requirements of environmental and social sustainability. The non-profit organization unites more than 220 aluminium producers and processors from the entire aluminium value chain, as well as non-governmental organizations, to develop certification procedures for the responsible production, sourcing, processing and recycling of aluminium that follow ethical, social and environmental criteria.
