The TRIMET Group is acquiring Westfracht Spezialverkehre International GmbH. The company, based in Essen’s city port, specializes in logistics services. Essen’s city port forms a central trimodal hub for the long-term supply of TRIMET’s production plants. For this reason, TRIMET considers the city port’s organization to be part of its responsibility.
The fusion of the two companies also follows TRIMET’s sustainability strategy, which takes not only production into account but also the impact of transport routes on the climate footprint of the aluminium produced.
“We have a longstanding, highly successful business relationship with Westfracht, which we are now taking to the next level with the takeover. Westfracht’s logistics expertise is of particular benefit to us. In the future, TRIMET will take direct responsibility for its transport operations, making them more flexible. Westfracht is a successful logistics company that will continue to stand on its own feet,” says Philipp Schlüter, CEO of TRIMET Aluminium SE.
“As a member of the TRIMET family, we can strengthen our organization and expand our activities. Our customers will benefit from this. We look forward to an even closer collaboration,” adds Ulrich Langhans, member of the Westfracht Executive Board.
Westfracht employs around 40 people and specializes in heavy and special transport services by road, rail, water and air. In addition, the company has extensive expertise in the packaging, warehousing and transshipment sectors. The logistics expert offers end-to-end solutions for planning and transportation and works with a worldwide network of cooperation partners.
