Hamm Site

TRIMET expands its recycling expertise

TRIMET is building a new facility in Hamm for the processing and sorting of aluminum scrap. With this new site, the company is expanding its expertise along the value chain and strengthening the circular economy in aluminum production.

The facility is scheduled to open in fall 2026 and will support the supply of processed secondary raw materials to TRIMET plants in the future.

Keeping aluminum in the loop

Aluminum is almost infinitely recyclable. With the new site in Hamm, TRIMET is creating additional capacity to process and sort aluminum scrap and prepare it for the production of high-quality aluminum alloys.

The growing demand for recycled materials requires new solutions in scrap processing and stronger integration across raw material supply chains.

Advanced sorting technology

At the heart of the facility is a LIBS sorting system (Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy). The laser-based spectral analysis enables precise sorting of different aluminum alloys and improves the quality of the recycled materials used in production.

In addition, the following services will be offered at the site:

  • Scrap sorting and material processing
  • FE sorting from non-ferrous metals
  • Removal of foreign materials and contaminants
  • Storage of loose and palletized goods
  • Loading and unloading of overseas containers
  • Compression of scrap into transportable bales

ROUTE PLANNER

Contribution to decarbonization

The increased use of secondary aluminum can achieve significant CO₂ savings. The LIBS sorting system in Hamm is funded by the Federal Republic of Germany. Funding body: Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action pursuant to a resolution of the German Bundestag.

Future site for recycling and raw material security

With the Hamm site, TRIMET is investing in the long-term preservation of industrial value creation and in a more resilient raw material supply for the European aluminum industry.

Careers in Hamm

TRIMET is currently building the new site and is already looking for employees for a wide range of positions.
