The Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) sets internationally recognized industry standards

The Aluminium Stewardship Initiative is a global, non-profit organization that promotes the responsible production, sourcing and processing of aluminium.

Its more than 310 ASI members include aluminium producers and processors along the entire value chain, as well as leading organizations of civil society. The certification program is the only voluntary initiative for sustainability standards in the aluminium industry. It covers environmental, social and corporate governance areas.

Sustainable aluminium production that meets internationally recognized industry standards

Through new technologies and continuous modernization, TRIMET is constantly developing its production facilities. Aluminium production meets the stringent requirements for social and ecological sustainability. This has been confirmed through certifications of TRIMET production sites in accordance with the strict standards of the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI). ASI sets internationally recognized industry standards for the responsible production and use of aluminium.

The four TRIMET aluminium smelters in Essen, Hamburg, Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne and Voerde are certified according to the Performance Standard of the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI).

This means that all of the company’s production sites for primary aluminium meet the globally applicable requirements for ecologically and socially sustainable production and responsible corporate management in the aluminium industry. The recycling plant in Gelsenkirchen and the foundry in Castelsarrasin are also ASI-certified. The certification covers the development, production and distribution of primary and recycled aluminium in cast and liquid form. The extensive tests required for this were carried out by independent institutes.
