… at your service from 7 to 7

TRIMET Turns 40 – Since 1985, we have been developing, producing, recycling, and distributing high-quality aluminum products. As a local materials producer, we take responsibility—for the reliable supply of our customers and for the future of our society.

We Keep Rethinking Aluminum

TRIMET combines industrial performance with a spirit of innovation and social responsibility. A forward-looking mindset has shaped our business decisions—for the past 40 years.

TRIMET began operations in 1985 as a three-person office. The core business: trading in metals, especially aluminum. In the early 1990s, the trading company became a producer. Today, 2,400 employees at TRIMET’s smelters, foundries, and remelting plants generate nearly 800,000 tons of primary and recycled aluminum each year.

As an owner-managed family business, we place great value on our independence and close relationships with our customers. They rely on materials of the highest quality. Quality includes sustainability. That’s why we are making significant efforts to improve the energy efficiency of our power-intensive production processes, support the energy transition, and reduce CO₂ emissions.

Key figures:

  • 8 locations in Germany and France
  • 2,400 employees from around 30 nationalities
  • 530,000 tons of primary aluminum annually
  • 245,000 tons of recycled aluminum
  • 100% family-owned

For TRIMET, sustainability is more than a trend

Our goal is to produce climate-neutral aluminum by 2045 – and we’re well on our way to achieving it. With our proprietary control system METRICS®, we are digitalizing and connecting production processes. To deliver electricity to our plants without losses, we are experimenting with superconductors. We are developing a new technology for aluminum production that emits no CO₂ – and instead releases oxygen.

With innovative processes, TRIMET actively supports the energy transition. The flexibility of our aluminum smelters helps stabilize the power grid. With dynamic load management, we can integrate fluctuating electricity from wind and solar sources.

We are converting our foundries and remelting plants to operate using climate-friendly fuels. The waste heat from our production facilities is fed into the public district heating network as carbon-neutral energy. In doing so, we have turned our Gelsenkirchen site into the greenest aluminum recycling plant in Europe.

People make TRIMET

Everything TRIMET achieves is thanks to the dedication of its employees. Whether in research, casting, or training – TRIMET thrives on the commitment of the people who work here. That’s why long-term employee retention is important to us. We train most of our future talent ourselves. Each year, around 50 young people begin their technical or commercial apprenticeship with us – helping to shape the future of aluminum.

We train, support careers, and take on social responsibility.
