TRIMET is significantly expanding the storage and operational areas for aluminium recycling at its Essen site

More space for sustainable recycling
By 2026, a new aluminium scrap storage hall will be completed at TRIMET's Essen site.

Directly adjacent to the foundry, a new storage hall for aluminium scrap is being built on an area of over 4,400 square meters. The building will also house offices, workshops, and social facilities for employees.

A covered sampling station will complement the facility, where incoming scrap will be inspected and documented. Additional open areas for storing finished products and parking spaces for industrial trucks will also be created. The building permit has already been granted and construction is underway. Commissioning is planned for early 2026.

With this expansion, TRIMET increases scrap storage capacity at the Essen site by around 16,000 tonnes and sets new standards for material quality. Separate storage by alloy and precise analysis of input materials help to further increase the recycling content in foundry production – an important step toward conserving resources and promoting sustainability. Occupational safety was also a key consideration in the planning.
